Westcoast Family Centres provides intensive parenting and support work on an Outreach basis to assist families in the Tri- Cities who are involved with the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Referrals for Family Support must come from MCFD. Issues addressed may include: parenting skill building, community resource links, securing adequate housing, budgeting assistance, mental wellness support, information on child development and child behaviour techniques, help in establishing routines/discipline/consistency in the home, and many more interventions as needed.

Savour Each Word at the Terry Fox Library! Join the Summer Reading Club and receive a free Reading Record and bookmark.  Each week participants can collect one of seven different stickers, and kids who complete their reading records by reading daily over seven weeks will receive a special Summer Reading Club medal (as supplies allow). Sign-up starts in June and continues throughout the summer. Summer Reading Club is primarily aimed at school age children; however, younger children are also welcome to join the special Read To Me Club.

Target clientele: Parents with children 0-12 years & Child care providers 

Cost: Free (nominal charge for workshops/training opportunities) 

Services to parents:  Provide child care information & referrals based on a parent's specific needs; provider referrals to community resources; provide Child Care Subsidy information & assistance; provide access to parent education opportunities.

Services to child care providers:  provide child care referrals; provide access to workshops and training opportunities; provide guidance and consultation on all child care related issues; provide access to toy/resource lending.
